Disbursements
and Gifts made by the _______________________________________________ __ Disbursements and Gifts made by the Brian E. Sweeney Memorial Fund. This fund is a not for profit organization whose goal is to purchase equipment and technology to assist children with development disabilities. In December 2002, the following medical accessories were purchased from vendors for various families: a gas lift over bed table, two (2) motorized wheelchair lifts for specially equipped vans, and a motorized track lifting system in two rooms at home for a child with spina bifida. The fund also donated a specially equipped van with a motorized wheelchair lift system to a single mother of a daughter with a development disability. Brian’s Fund purchased a “Hearing Helper Personal FM System” to assist children with a hearing impairment in the Cayuga Schools System in Aurora, N.Y. In January and February of 2003, the Fund has purchased
the following equipment and supplies for United Cerebral Palsy of Nassau
County: a Dell Dimension 2350 for each of eight (8) classrooms including
special tables for wheelchair accessibility; one (1) Dell Dimension 8250
for their Natalie Paymer Innovative Tech Center, and various software
for the Augmentative Communication Equipment Lending Library. We also
purchased playground equipment to update their adaptive play area. Later
in 2003, eight (8) Dell Pentium 4 computers with various software and
equipment were purchased for the Children’s Learning Center at United
Cerebral Palsy of Nassau County. In 2005, another ten (10) computers, printers, and peripheral training equipment were purchased for the UCPN Learning Center, which enabled the staff to enhance their classroom curricula, and teach children with various skills and challenges. A Rock Climbing Wall was purchased to help develop motor planning skills. Additional purchases for the Center were augmentative communication devices and equipment, and wheelchair accessible desks. A defibrillator was also purchased for the United Cerebral Palsy Center. As of March, 2006, the Fund has provided additional Dell computers and related software for classrooms, and the Houghton Mifflin Reading Program to teach math, social studies, science concepts, and reading. Soundproofing has been provided for various classrooms as needed. Individual private donations and the sale of shirts and
hats have provided the funds to make all of these much appreciated purchases.
With your continued generosity, we will be able to keep on giving where
it is needed. ........................................................................................................................... Please wear this T-shirt with pride and let Brian's memory live on. Thank you. At this time, all requests for assistance from Brian's
